Terms of Use

These terms apply to the Genomeats iPhone app and the genomeats.com website. By using them you agree to these terms. If you got the app from the App Store, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies; if anything here conflicts with it, Apple's agreement controls for the app.
1. Educational use only — not medical advice
Genomeats gives educational information about published research on genetic variants and food, nutrition, traits and medication response. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose, prevent or treat any disease or condition. It does not give medication dosing instructions.
- Do not start, stop or change a medicine, or make a medical decision, based on the app. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist first.
- Consumer DNA chips can be wrong, especially for rare variants. Confirm any rare finding with a clinical-grade test ordered by a healthcare professional.
- If you think you have a medical emergency, call your local emergency number.
2. What our results are based on
Results come from your raw data file and a curated knowledge base of published studies, interpreted using the method described on our home page (strand-verified alleles, a majority-genotype policy, and rare chip calls flagged as needing confirmation). We work to keep this accurate, but we do not promise that your file, your testing company's genotype calls, or the research behind a result is free of errors, or that any result applies to you. Genetics is one influence among many, including diet, environment and other health factors.
3. Your data
The app analyzes your file on your device and we do not receive it. See the Privacy Policy. You are responsible for any report you export or share, and you should only import a DNA file that is yours or that you have permission to use.
4. Purchases
Genomeats Complete is a one-time in-app purchase sold through Apple's App Store and subject to Apple's terms. Apple processes payments and handles refund requests. There is no subscription. The price shown in the App Store at the time of purchase applies.
5. License
We grant you a personal, non-transferable license to use the app and its content for your own non-commercial use. Do not copy, resell or redistribute the app's knowledge base or reports as a product or service.
6. No warranty
Beyond the method described in section 2, the app and website are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising from your use of the app or website, or from decisions made based on them. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the app in the 12 months before the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
8. Changes
We may update these terms. We will post the new version on this page with a new effective date. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, except where the law of your place of residence requires otherwise.
