Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 23, 2026
In short: Genomeats analyzes your DNA file on your iPhone. We do not run servers that receive your data, there is no account, and the app contains no analytics, advertising or tracking code. We receive no personal data from you.
This policy covers the Genomeats iPhone app and this website (genomeats.com). "We" and "us" means the developer of Genomeats.
What the app does with your DNA file
- Analysis happens on your device. When you import a raw DNA file, the app reads and analyzes it on your iPhone. The file is never uploaded to us or to anyone else. The app makes no network requests of its own.
- The raw file is never kept. After the import, Genomeats does not keep a copy of your raw file. (If you imported a .zip or .gz file, the unpacked copy is temporary and is deleted when the import finishes.) The original stays wherever you saved it, such as the Files app, under your control.
- What is saved: your report. The app saves your report, which includes your genotype at the markers it analyzes (not your whole file). The report is stored encrypted on your device using iOS Data Protection and is excluded from iCloud and computer backups.
- Optional Face ID lock. You can require Face ID (or your device passcode) to open the app.
- Settings. Your app settings (for example your dietary pattern, health goals, whether sensitive results are shown, and whether the lock is on) are stored on your device only.
What we collect
Nothing. The app has no account or sign-in and contains no third-party SDKs, analytics, advertising, crash-reporting or tracking code. It does not track you across apps or websites. We never receive, see, sell or share your DNA data, your report or any other personal data. The app's privacy manifest declares no collected data, and its App Store privacy label is "Data Not Collected".
Source links
Results link to sources such as PubMed and SNPedia. These links open in your web browser only when you tap them. The address tells that third-party site which marker (rsID) you looked up, never your genotype. Those sites have their own privacy policies.
Sharing your report
If you export a PDF of your report (a Genomeats Complete feature), the PDF contains your results. It goes only where you choose to send or save it using the iOS share sheet.
Purchases
Genomeats Complete is a one-time in-app purchase handled entirely by Apple. Apple processes the payment under its own privacy policy. We do not receive your name, email address, payment details or any other personal data from Apple; the app only checks with the App Store whether the purchase is active on your Apple Account.
Deleting your data
Use Settings → Delete all data in the app to remove your report and reset your settings on this device. Deleting the app also removes everything it stored. Importing a new file replaces your current report. Because we hold no copy of your data, there is nothing for us to delete on our side.
This website
genomeats.com uses no cookies, no analytics, no tracking pixels and no third-party fonts or scripts. Our web host may keep standard server logs (such as IP address and pages requested) for security and operations; we do not use them to identify or profile visitors.
Health data and genetic privacy laws
Because the app processes your genetic data only on your device and we do not collect, share or sell it, see our Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy for the statement required by Washington's My Health My Data Act and similar state laws.
Children
Genomeats is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the app handles data, we will update this page and its effective date before the change ships. We will not add data collection without updating this policy and the app's App Store privacy label first.
